Growth Spurt

There's nothing particularly insightful about Peter Gammons' comments below - in the sense that Spring Training is all about hype. But what I found interesting is that Peralta apparently grew two inches - in height! - a year ago.

Who is still growing in their twenties?

• The Indians believe Jhonny Peralta will bounce back to being closer to the .886 OPS Peralta of '05 than the .708 OPS Peralta of last season who struggled mightily in the field. In the offseason of '05-06, he grew two inches, and at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds is very big for shortstop. But he's toned his body, and they think he can be adequate defensively and hit again.
