A Pre-Emptive Strike

Just for all you getting your panties in a twist, what President Obama is suggesting is NOT socialism. It just isn't. To be sure, it's a change in our governmental policies and the banks have gotten themselves in quite a big mess -- but it's not socialism.

Critique on the facts, but do your homework first.

OK, back to the beach.

  1. If you like, we can have this discussion sometime after single-payer health care gets here.

  2. we need some goddamn socialism in this world. we already f-ed it all up by ensuring we go nowhere near it.

My tolerance levels for the "I'm scared of change! This is 'merica! It aint' Broke!" people ... really, I can't stand it anymore.

  3. Single-payer health care (as in Canada)is ALSO not socialism -- but then so few people in the USA ever learned that there was a big difference between Socialism and Communism, or for that matter, what EITHER of them actually were.

Recent thoughts during the crisis -- Communism, like Capitalism, was a profoundly interesting idea, both of which were destroyed by the insane greed of the people in charge.

We've never seen EITHER handled responsibly by the people who are respectively in charge, so no one actually knows what either one might be if that happened.

Reminiscent of George Bernard Shaw's comment that "Christianity might be a good idea if anyone ever tried it."
